Everything you need to know before you call

1. How quickly can admission happen?

In most cases, admission is possible within 24 hours of your first call. If your situation is urgent, tell us when you call and we will prioritise accordingly.

2. What if my family member is willing but we need help getting there?

We understand that arranging transport to a residential centre can feel overwhelming. While admission at Alpha is voluntary, meaning your family member has chosen to come, we can connect you with reliable local transport options if needed. Call us and we will help you arrange it.

3. How will I know how they are doing?

Your family will receive a weekly update directly from the treating psychiatrist, not a counsellor or administrative staff. These updates cover progress, treatment adjustments, and what you can do to support recovery from your end.

4. Is family therapy included?

Yes. Addiction affects the whole family, not just the person in treatment. Regular family counselling sessions, available in person or virtually and are part of the programme. These sessions address relationship dynamics, help families understand addiction, and establish boundaries that support long-term recovery.

5. What if there is a medical emergency during the stay?

Alpha has an on-site medical and clinical team available to provide immediate stabilisation. For emergencies requiring advanced intervention, we have established protocols and rapid transport arrangements with nearby tertiary hospitals.

6. What happens after discharge?

Alpha’s care does not end at discharge. Our complimentary 120-day post-discharge programme provides structured support through the critical early months of recovery, for both the patient and the family.
